Description
All of our coping stones are manufactured in-house using our own concrete mix, designed to give strength, durability and long-term performance. We use a blend of high-strength 52.5N cement, granite aggregate and silica sand, along with chemical admixtures and additional cementitious materials to improve density and reduce water absorption. The result is a strong, impermeable concrete that stands up to the weather and holds its finish over time.
Colour is mixed all the way through the product, not just on the surface, so if anything is cut or knocked, the colour remains consistent. Pigments are added depending on the finish required, and every batch is weighed carefully to keep things as consistent as possible.
Standard finish
A smooth, matt finish (often referred to as wet cast). All top faces and edges are clean and smooth, with a slightly rougher underside to help with bedding and adhesion. This is the standard precast finish straight from the mould.
Resin finish
A two-coat clear polyurethane applied after manufacture, giving a darker, wet-look finish. It adds a level of protection and enhances the colour, but does increase lead times due to drying between coats. Typically lasts up to five years before reapplication, depending on exposure.
Acid etched or sandblasted finish
This removes the surface layer to expose the aggregate, giving a more natural, stone-like finish. It has more texture and will weather differently to a smooth finish, with a higher chance of moss or lichen over time. Air holes are not filled on this finish, as it’s part of the overall look.
All coping stones are cast with drip grooves underneath, set in from the edge, to help prevent water tracking back onto the wall.
Everything is made to order, so lead times can vary. Always check sizes, colours and finishes before ordering, as products are non-returnable. If you’re unsure, give us a call and we’ll point you in the right direction.
If you’re mixing products or ordering under a full pallet weight, delivery costs can vary — best to call the office for an accurate price.
As with all concrete, there can be slight colour variation between batches, especially if materials like cement or fly ash change supplier. We do everything we can to keep this consistent, but if you’re ordering in stages, let us know and we’ll do our best to match everything up.
